Business Development Consultant

CAREER OPPORTUNITY
An exciting opportunity exists for a Business Development Consultant: Cape Town/Garden Route Area to join the Distribution Department. The BDC role is to develop, grow and manage an allocated portfolio of Brokers, to retain existing business and generate new business opportunities and grow broker base to achieve the desired sales volumes, achieve Gross Written Premiums and Loss Ratio Targets.

This position is based in Cape Town/Garden Route Area.

JOB DESCRIPTION
Duties and Responsibilities (may include but not limited to):
• Identify market opportunities for your area of responsibility and produce a Business Plan that reflects how to develop and manage prospects.
• Retain existing base and grow it to help ensure Brolink Sales targets for the GWP and profitability are met and exceeded.
• Maintain and accurately report on the sales pipelines, to ensure that GWP targets will be met or exceeded.
• Assist with and track larger renewals, and cancellations within portfolio, to ensure a high retention rate of business.
• Develop the Broker portfolio, and effectively onboard new brokers, whereby the Business Development Growth targets are achieved through influence and persuasions.
• Strategically analyze the Brokers business plan and identify future business opportunities for development.
• Implement agreed underwriting measures aligned to underwriting and Insurer mandates to attain targeted loss ratios and rates.
• Ensure adherence to the Regional Teams Sales plan.
• Actively assist with portfolio management and policy screening, to ensure that profitability targets are achieved.
• Deliver and enhance client satisfaction of the highest level by working with brokers to map and determine their business needs in delivering superior client service.
• Effectively assist by redirecting service complaints, to the correct division and manager, in order to resolve all complaints received from brokers or clients.
• Track Productivity levels by successful completion of Internal systems
• Maintain correct and updated broker contact information, correct broker agency details, and ensure that changes in agencies are correctly communicated and updated on all required systems.
• In collaboration with Underwriting and other departments ensure that technical and operational underwriting standards, procedures and controls are complied with
• Follow laid down procedures for on boarding; development and maintaining of business.
• Follow laid down procedures for submission of ex gratia claim motivations.
• Actively promote relationships with key role players in your broker portfolio, and the management team of Brolink. Also manage the relationship between the broker and support teams at Brolink.
• Effectively identify, and action cross selling opportunities with other divisions within the Company.
• Assist with credit control management on assigned portfolio, in order to retain GWP.
• Assist with portfolio management actions, and compliance requirements. Effectively identify and report compliance breaches, and implementation of compliance requirements post audit.
• Track provisional and actual premiums raised under group schemes, to maintain correct GWP levels.
• At all times adhere to your agreed delegated authority agreement
• System training to broker and any other requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Qualifications
Minimum Requirements:
•Matric is an essential requirement
•Higher certificate and higher
•Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing or related field will be an advantage.
•FAIS compliant
Work Experience
Minimum Requirements:
• Commercial and Personal Lines experience – minimum 5 years
• Sound experience in Sales with a strong presence in the Broker community – minimum 5 years
• Cold calling
• Commercial and Personal Lines experience – minimum 5 years
•Experience in sales (face 2 face), marketing or related field.
• Sound experience in Sales with a strong presence in the Broker community – minimum 5 years

TECHNICAL COMPETENCIES
Minimum Requirements:
•Strong communication skills and IT fluency.
